Pizzeria Leopold: Authentic Italian Flavors in Lakewood

Just moved here from Arizona and was craving pizza. Standard fare like pizza hut and little cs wasn't gonna cut it and by some miracle I drove right past this place.. Glad I hit that u-turn! Friendly staff like we have been lifelong friends, aromas were spot on, and the garlic knots absolutely stellar. A good indication on how the pizza was going to be, and boy was I not disappointed. Standard pepperoni this time, but the pie itself was far from Standard. Crust flavorful and spot on, marinara on point, and the cheese perfect. We will definitely be back for more. :)

Just landed in town hungry and looked for some good pizza. This was great pizza and then some. Spent half my life in Chicago and travel to New York often and this place is among the best pizzas we’ve had! Meatballs are spectacular. Focaccia too.

I’ll start by saying, forgive the lack of photos. I was starving and dug in right away, and honestly that probably says enough by itself. The place was pretty loud, but still quaint in a good way. The atmosphere was enjoyable overall, though seating for three people was a bit tricky. It seemed like most of the tables were set up for one or two-person parties, so it took a little effort to find a good spot. Service was solid. Staff made a point to greet everyone coming in and thank everyone heading out, which was a nice touch. Our waiter was juggling bar duties and other tasks, so we didn’t get checked on very often, but it was understandable given how busy things were. The chef personally brought out the food and was extremely friendly. One downside was the restroom, it was occupied the entire time we were there, so no one in our group was able to use it. Definitely inconvenient, but not a dealbreaker. Most important part: the food was fantastic. Really flavorful, well made, and absolutely worth the visit. The meal names are hilarious too, which adds to the experience. If you’re looking for a pizza place in Denver, this is definitely a spot to check out.

Incredible home baked focaccia sandwiches are incredibly good. Eclectic Italian meats and cheeses on a crispy focaccia for the price of potbelly’s. If the pizza is this good too, an incredible find! Two meals out of one sandwich.

Get a sandwich on housemade focaccia bread! The cutlet and P.I.G. were so flavorful. Garlic knots are a staple too. This is great to visit before or after a Sloan's Lake walk. I feel satiated hours after eating.

Pizzeria Leopold is so damn good. Every time. The pizza crust is incredible - light, crispy, but still holds up and has amazing flavor. I usually need to dip my pizza crust in ranch or honey but not here - it’s so good on its own. And their sandwiches are BOMB. Packed full of meats and toppings, not just bread like a lot of places. Although their bread is freaking amazing as well. You’ve always got to try their rotating burratas. Don’t bother reading what it is - they’re all so good. Salads are amazing and their new HH bites are incredible and well priced. We just tried their bruschetta for the first time and will absolutely get it again. They had a more traditional bruschetta but with candied pine nuts (omg) and they had an incredible one with chicken fat mousse. If you haven’t been, please go give them some love and treat yourself.

There’s a reason they were voted best pizza recently. The food is top notch, including the salads and garlic knots. They have seen a large influx of business, so there are some challenges when it comes to service. We waited an hour for a table because there are several 6-top tables and plenty of parties of 2. We barely saw our server and I sat with an empty glass for about half the meal. We were not able to get focaccia to go or dessert because it was all sold out for the night by the time we could order. I might come back for carry out.

The honey wings were absolutely amazing — seriously, so good! They were extremely busy, but Chris, the manager, really made things right. I have to give him kudos — with all the chaos going on between dine-in orders, takeout, and walk-ins, he must be doing something right. I’m always happy to support a small business, so the wait didn’t bother me. And the pizza, as always, was delicious! Thank you Chris your doing an amazing job!
